NRA National Police Shooting Championships Return To Albuquerque Sept. 24-26

The 2018 NRA National Police Shooting Championships are scheduled for Sept. 24-26, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, uniting law enforcement professionals from across the world to test their marksmanship skills in an exciting, challenging competition.

A shooting tradition since 1962, the NPSC is open to all public and private law enforcement professionals and select law enforcement members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Participation in the event does not require an invitation, and registrants can shoot in as few or many matches as they wish.

Competitors need not be High Master shooters to attend or excel at the NPSC. In fact, High Masters and Masters make up the smallest group of shooters who attend the championships. Like all NRA Police Pistol Combat (PPC) tournaments, participants compete against shooters in their own skill classification level. Those who have not participated in an NRA PPC tournament or hold no PPC classification may compete as an Unclassified Shooter.

The NPSC will once again feature the New Mexico Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 22, a free event open to officers who work for New Mexico law enforcement agencies and have not fired in a PPC Match before, as well as for alumni shooters from past New Mexico Challenge events. This event exposes new shooters to the NRA PPC Program and gives them a chance to run through the Stock Service Match in a relaxed atmosphere while receiving shooting tips from experienced shooters.

“We believe that a law enforcement officer cannot receive enough firearms training, and firearms competition is a direct extension of training,” said Glen Hoyer, Director of NRA’s Law Enforcement Division. “We welcome law enforcement professionals from across the country and around the world to join us in Albuquerque for a challenging, enriching and fun championship tradition.”

In addition to the shooting matches, tuition-free armorer courses, including courses from Glock, SIG Sauer, Walther, Double Star and Smith & Wesson, are scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 22. The courses will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and pre-registration is required. The 2018 Law Enforcement Equipment Expo will also take place during the NPSC, allowing law enforcement professionals to meet local and national firearm and equipment manufacturers and explore new products.

Support for the NRA Law Enforcement Division and the 2018 NRA National Police Shooting Championships is graciously provided by Ruger, Mossberg, Kahr Firearms Group, Rocky Brands, Odor Crusher, Otis Technology, and TRU-SPEC. Additional support for this year’s championships is provided by Nine Line Apparel, the U.S. Border Patrol, and Present Arms.
