Volunteer of the Week: Ron Salkovick

Volunteer of the Week: Ron Salkovick

This week we recognize Ron Salkovick, volunteer with the Northern Ohio Friends of NRA.

Ron has helped raise funds for the Buckeye State for the past seven years. In 2016 he sold multiple banquet tickets and sponsorships bringing in $7,000, and raised $20,000 in pre and post-event raffles.

If there’s a job that needs to be done, Ron’s right there to help. He’s taken on multiple projects at a time including the committee’s gun raffle. For the past three years, Ron’s team has operated a successful raffle which has sold out each year. He also takes it upon himself to make an annual trip to the Mansfield Gun Show where he visits with multiple gun clubs, meet folks in the community, and talk about Friends of NRA and how they can get involved.

“Ron has become more involved at the state level,” shared NRA Field Representative Marc Peugeot. “I see him being a very important part in helping steer the program for years to come.”

Volunteers are essential to the success of Friends and Ron takes every opportunity to not just grow his team, but to aid others with their overall experience. “Ron helped confirm the idea that if we gave the volunteers more ways to be active in the program and share their experiences, not only would they learn more, they would take the information and enthusiastically share it with their committees,” said Peugeot.

Sharing The NRA Foundation’s vision is something Ron is extremely passionate about and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. “Ron exudes the qualities that it takes to be a leader in the program,” said Peugeot. “This committee would have not been as successful as it has been without his devotion and leadership.”

It’s safe to say no matter the challenge, Ron will be there with a good attitude and idea to tackle it.
