This week we recognize Chairman Rodney Wilkes with the Napa County Friends of NRA.
For 15 years, Rodney has been an active member of his local Friends chapter aiding the cause of preserving the future of the shooting sports in his community. He’s sold over 100 banquet tickets bringing in $6,500, raised $4,000 in pre and post-event raffles, arranged underwriting for 14 items bringing in nearly $2,000, and acquired 12 donations valued over $5,000. And that was just for 2016!
Aside from overseeing the success of his own event, Rodney also extends a helping hand to other neighboring committees in need. Traveling around the state, helping with prizes, and engaging with attendees, Rod’s kindness and grace doesn’t go unnoticed.
“His character and leadership has been a real asset,” said NRA Field Representative Dan Wilhelm.
Friends of NRA is much more to Rodney than a volunteering opportunity. It’s also become a family affair where both his sons have joined in on the action. “It’s incredibly encouraging to see such a dedicated family giving their time together to support the shooting sports,” said Wilhelm. “Rod is truly the face of NRA and represents Friends of NRA proudly.”
