This week we recognize Jeff Lassiter, Chairman of Montgomery County, Western North Carolina Friends of NRA.
Nearly five years ago, after attending a Friends of NRA event in a neighboring county, Jeff offered to start a new event. Since then, he’s been steadily growing his event and earned High Caliber Club status.
“Jeff has worked to get the entire community behind the event,” said NRA Field Representative Doug Merrill. “He works closely with the law enforcement community and the local gunsmithing school at Montgomery County Community College and is successful with garnering their involvement.”
Just last year Jeff sold multiple banquet tickets and sponsorships bringing in $19,400, raised $6,000 in pre and post-event raffles, arranged underwriting for several items worth over $3,000, and acquired various donations valued over $3,200.
Since day one, Jeff has had a vision to take his event to the next level. But to get there entails willingness and hard work.
“He’s always pitching in,” said Merrill. “From selling raffle tickets to attending other events to lend a helping hand, Jeff’s there manning a grid board, attending to the silent auction, running bid sheets for the live auction and even helps to pack up the truck at the end of the night.”
Being a great leader is one thing, showing you’re a great leader is another. Jeff has certainly displayed his commitment to the success of Friends of NRA in more ways than one and has helped bring an entire community together in the process to support the shooting sports.
