A Challenge for the President

President Barack Obama sounded off during his “town hall” about his supposed willingness to talk with the NRA. Now, the NRA has called that bluff.

NRA Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Wayne LaPierre issued a challenge to the president to meet for a one-hour, one-on-one debate using an agreed-upon moderator. The invitation came via an eight-minute-plus video released by NRA News that featured the NRA leader. Referring to Obama’s carefully orchestrated town hall, LaPierre only requested “no pre-screened questions and no gas-bag answers.”

LaPierre began the video by criticizing Obama’s executive overreach and said that although Obama set out seven years ago to transform our country, instead he has “laid waste to the America we remember.” And he’s chosen to attack what LaPierre said Obama misunderstands most — the Second Amendment, gun owners and the NRA.

“The president announced a federal gun force that will be four times the size of the Special Forces units he deployed against ISIS terrorists,” noted LaPierre. Yet while he’s going after the law-abiding, he seems to have no problem letting the criminals roam free. “President Obama has made America a sanctuary nation for felons, criminal gangbangers, drug dealers, repeat offenders and illegal aliens,” said the NRA chief.

LaPierre also stated that the president’s intentions are clear: “Destroy the NRA before the election, so Hillary can destroy the Second Amendment after it.” He concluded by requesting a debate that would allow Americans to judge for themselves who they trust and believe on the issue.
