Clarion County Youth Field Day Celebrates 30 Years

As Friends of NRA celebrates their 30th anniversary this year, Clarion County Sportsmen for Youth will also be celebrating their 30th year of hosting Pennsylvania’s largest youth field day this August 7. Each year the Clarion County Youth Field Day has 450 youth attendees between the ages of 8 and 14 and offers at least 15 different activity stations. Attendees get to try their hand at archery, shotgun, crossbow, duck and turkey calling, fishing, firearm safety, and so much more!

Clarion County Sportsmen for Youth operates Clarion County Youth Field Day with a board of 13 directors, over 100 volunteers for the day’s event, and many sponsors. Pennsylvania Friends of NRA and Clarion County Sportsmen for Youth have a history of working together, and Pennsylvania Friends of NRA is proud to support the event year after year. In total, the Clarion County Youth Field Day has been awarded just over just over $8,400 through NRA Foundation grants.

Because the Clarion County Youth Field Day is so well attended, there is a time limit for each station to ensure everyone has the chance to try each activity. The event is popular enough that event registration typically fills up within an hour once it opens. Several youth who aged out of the program even come back to volunteer so they can still be involved.

Not only do children get to participate in all types of outdoor activities, but each attendee receives a shirt and hat, families are served lunch, and at the end of the day over 100 firearms and other prizes are given away. Every youth goes home with at least a door prize and a wealth of outdoor education.

Friends of NRA is proud to support and encourage youth events such as the Clarion County Youth Field Day. It is critical to invest in youth to preserve the future of the shooting sports. Friends of NRA is the fundraising arm of The NRA Foundation, and raises funds for NRA Foundation grants to qualified programs. The NRA Foundation has awarded over $445 million in grant funding since their establishment in 1990.
