This week we recognize Chairman Kenny Ruckel, volunteer of three years with the Lewis County, Kentucky Friends of NRA.
In 2016, Kenny sold 250 banquet tickets bringing in $7,500, sold 27 business sponsorships equaling $23,900, raised nearly $30,000 in pre and post-event raffles, and arranged underwriting for five items totaling $1,315.
NRA Kentucky Field Representative John LaRowe describes Kenny to be, “an amazing leader.” Building a team of over 40 volunteers who are incredibly dedicated to the cause doesn’t come easy but Kenny’s eagerness to embrace new ideas and setting goals has proven to benefit his team and committee.
“Kenny is always willing to help at other events whether by sharing ideas and advice or even attending and helping out,” said LaRowe. “He even assisted at least two events in Ohio - one was brand new!”
Kenny also proudly represented the Kentucky Friends of NRA at a gun show in Ashland as well as the Ted Nugent concert in Pikeville – both major recruiting targets for new committee growth.
In 2016, Kenny strongly aided the establishment of a local gun club and range with assistance from an NRA Public Range Grant of more than $13,000 which assisted the clubs second phase of construction.
Kenny also has a vital role to the committee serving as a voting delegate to the State Fund Committee and participates in many discussions in regards to requests for consideration in the state.
Even with his relatively recent involvement with Friends, Kenny was selected to teach a class on his highly successful event that was repeated in 2016 bringing in additional net revenue of more than $6,000!
This year also marks the third year in a row which Kenny has represented the program at the two-day celebration of Independence Day in Lewis County. He brought a crew of four volunteers to work at the National NRA Foundation Banquet during the 2016 NRA Annual Meetings and helped fill a couple of unscheduled shifts at the Wall of Guns.
Kenny’s willingness and commitment to this program is certainly paramount to the members of his team and his “dedication is certainly unparalleled,” LaRowe proudly shares.
