This week we recognize Chairman Dan Porter, volunteer of Kanabec Area, Minnesota Friends of NRA.
Dan has volunteered with Friends for the past seven years. Throughout his time with the program, he’s completely devoted his time and attention to the success of the program and its mission.
“Dan is one of those guys you can constantly rely on,” said NRA Field Representative Eric Linder. “He lives and loves all aspects of Friends.”
That zeal blended with a competitive spirit is a fantastic combination in the world of fundraising and Dan and his committee have flourished from it. Just last year he sold 311 event tickets bringing in more than $50,000, raised $3,500 in pre and post-event raffles, arranged underwriting for 18 items worth $6,077, and acquired 25 donations valued over $7,400.
The mission of Friends of NRA is simple: fundraising for the future of the shooting sports. When Dan isn’t working diligently with his team, he’s actively spending time teaching 4H, gun safety, and working at the gun club.
“He is always looking to further kid’s involvement in all aspects of the shooting sports,” said Linder. “And he’s constantly encouraging others to do the same.”
Volunteers of Friends of NRA are dynamic across the board and Dan is a shining light to that. He’s a leader, he’s committed, and he’s inspiring. That is the essence of the amazing volunteers a part of this program and we proudly recognize Dan and his efforts to Friends.
