Volunteer of the Week: David Peabody

This week we recognize David Peabody, volunteer of 12 years with the Central Massachusetts Friends of NRA.

David first came on board in 2004 serving as a State Fund Representative where he’s worked with local shooting clubs to help them prepare grant applications. He’s since migrated to the role of secretary with his committee and also assumes the duties of treasurer when needed.

“He’s the go-to guy,” explains NRA Massachusetts Field Representative Jim Reardon. “Anytime I need help, he is there.”
"[David's] the glue that helps hold this committee together."
David spent an inordinate amount of time attending gun shows, club meetings, securing underwriting’s and donations, as well as selling sponsorship's for his committees event. He also made thousands of calls to attendees and raffle ticket buyers, handed out flyers, printed needed material, and handled radio and newspaper interviews.

His efforts paid off as he sold 45 banquet tickets bringing in $2,250 as well as four sponsorships equaling $2,000. He also raised $3,200 in pre and post-event raffles, arranged underwriting for five items totaling $550 and even acquired a mix of donations valued over $7,300!

David has proven to be a great leader who, without fail, supports the rest of the committee. Known for his bright smile and listening ear, Reardon elaborates further that David is, "the glue that helps hold this committee together."
