Gun of the Day: Colt Government Model

It’s fitted with an early Aimpoint Mark III electronic sight. The left grip panel was replaced with an integral scope mount. In the late 1970s, this type of rig started appearing in pistol competition and early “red dot” optics like the Aimpoint quickly gathered a following of shooters. This type of optic allows the shooter to concentrate on a single aiming point without having to align front and rear sights.
