Second NRA championship in three years for Olympian McPhail
Port Clinton, Ohio - Only two points shy of a perfect score, SSG Michael McPhail of the United States Army Marksmanship Unit won the 2013 NRA National Smallbore Prone Championship with a 4798 out of 4800. McPhail, who has previously won the coveted Critchfield Trophy in 2011, was absent from last year's National Matches due to competing the London 2012 Summer Olympics as a member of Team USA.
Held July 20-25 at Camp Perry, a National Guard training facility on the shore of Lake Erie, the Smallbore Rifle Prone Championships are a part of the annual NRA National Rifle and Pistol Championships. Known in the shooting community as the "World Series of the shooting sports," the National Matches have been a staple of Camp Perry for 106 years.
