Over Super Bowl weekend, NRA Sports hosted the
9th Annual NFL Alumni Sporting Clays Team Challenge in Land O' Lakes, Florida. Retired and current players alike came out to the
Deer Creek Sporting Clays facility to captain 16 teams of four shooters.
The NFL Alumni Sporting Clays Team Challenge, held every year in conjunction with Super Bowl weekend, serves as a major funding vehicle for all the wonderful youth-oriented programs supported by the NFL Alumni, a non-profit charitable organization with a motto and mission of Caring for Kids.
The winning team, including top shooter James Harrod (48 out of 50), was captained by NFL Alums Larry Ball and Manny Fernandez. The second place team, captained by fellow NFL Alum Karl Mecklenburg, included NRA's own Chris Cox.
“Our thanks and gratitude is due to NRA Sports and Wayne LaPierre for supporting our efforts as the Presenting Sponsor of The NFL Alumni Sporting Clays Team Challenge,” said NFL Alumni Manager of Operations and Event Coordinator Patrick Gavin. “Their continued support of this event helps advance the NFL Alumni mission of Caring for Kids.”
