Ottawa, Ontario - Have you been keeping a watchful eye upon the Canadian Fullbore Championships up at the Connaught Ranges in Ottawa? If you're a fan of the long range rifle, then you should be. Though we've been concentrating on NRA's Creedmore Championships this past week, that doesn't mean we haven't been keeping one ear fixated on the Canadian tundra. How else are we going to keep tabs on how those who compete in NRA events are doing after leaving the fields of Camp Perry?

Riding on a Long Range High Power Rifle high after the NRA Championships, we go from the range in Ohio to the one up in Ottawa. That's where you'll find a number of those same NRA Rifle competitors taking the field in the 130th Canadian Fullbore Rifle Championships.

Australia Rifle team to take on Canadian Rifle Championships

Ron Whalen, Captain of the Australian Rifle Team Port Clinton, Ohio - Yesterday marked the end of NRA's National Rifle & Pistol Championships in Camp Perry. Those still stirring round the base included staff, volunteers and much to my surprise — the Australian Rifle Team.

A surprise because it was only that morning I discovered a portion of the team was bunking a few doors down from me. Exchanging pleasantries while they packed the team rental van, I then discovered yet another surprising fact. They were not headed to the airport for the long flight home. No, instead, Captain Ron (pictured above) Aubrey and the rest of the team were about to embark for Ottawa.
