Red Bluff — The NRA Foundation has awarded the Tehama Shooters Association grants totaling $36,224 to purchase cement blocks and dirt needed to construct a new pistol range.

Members say they are excited about project and pleased the NRA is making an investment in the community.

The association is a local organization on the grounds of the Long Ranch LLC, dedicated to providing a safe location for members, law enforcement agencies, youth groups, public organizations and others to shoot firearms of various calibers and train in the safe operation of those firearms.

With the assistance of the NRA, the association is constructing a new pistol range in the center of the main range. It will consist of two 100-foot cement block walls on either side of the range. A 100-yard dirt berm at the end of the lane will be constructed as a backstop for bullets.

Once completed, this range will allow shooters a safe and separate location where handguns can be used without interfering with rifle and shotgun training, regularly scheduled professional shooting matches and daily shooting activities.

“On behalf of the Tehama Shooters Association, we are proud to support the NRA and appreciate their efforts in the on-going struggle to protect our Constitution’s Second Amendment,” said member James Raglin in a press release.
