Volunteer of the Week: Chip Hedrick

This week we recognize Treasurer Charles “Chip” Hedrick, volunteer of six years with the Greater Androscoggin Maine Friends of NRA.

Last year, Chip sold 200 banquet tickets bringing in $8,000, sold three sponsorships equaling $3,750, raised $6,000 in pre and post-event raffles, arranged underwriting for five items, and acquired ten donations valued more than $2,000.

Since 2011, Chip has served as treasurer and has taken on additional tasks outside of his role which include creating banquet flyers and dinner tickets. He also tracks all ticket sales, contributions from sponsors and donors, as well as storing all merchandise and supplies for each event.

Chip is an attorney by day for a successful law firm but still manages time to see Friends succeed not only for his committee but others in his state.

Maine Field Representative Brian Smith shared, "[Chip] attends other banquets throughout Maine to support other committees and lends a helping hand where needed. He's my go-to guy."

The dedication shown by Chip doesn’t stop there. He works tirelessly to promote the Greater Androscoggin banquet at several gun clubs in the area and Fish and Game Associations, he’s the vice president and grant writer for the Association, and is extremely active in the Auburn Rifle Club. He also represents Friends at guns show within an hour drive of Lewiston where he spends time selling thousands of dollars in raffle tickets, and attends the Maine State Fund Committee meeting and Volunteer Workshop each year.

“Chip takes charge with whatever tasks he’s given and goes above and beyond to get it done,” Smith states proudly.
