From athletes to actors to musicians and more, NRA All Access has met some incredible Second Amendment supporters. Over the past five season, NRA All Access has hosted several exclusive interviews with celebrities, getting to know about their lives, passions, and support of the NRA. Take a look at some of these hunters, recreational shooters, self-defense advocates, and history buffs who are not afraid to defend their rights and share their interests in the shooting sports.
Hunter and all-around athlete Cameron Hanes dedicates himself to pushing limits and seeing what he’s capable of each and every day. Hanes has been an athlete as far as he can remember and when he took up bowhunting he knew there was room for improvement. It was then that Hanes began training intensively each and every day, physically and mentally, combined with practicing with his bow - inevitably pacing the way for safer, more successful hunts. And Cameron has the success to show for it and rarely leaves a hunt empty-handed.
Kirsten Joy Weiss has a decorated background in her competitive shooting career beginning in 2003. From then her journey in the shooting sports continued to blossom earning her a spot on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s rifle team, the opportunity to compete in the World Championships, World Cups, and the Olympic shot-list. Weiss has since focused her efforts as a performance shooter with a clear message to “bring the fun, challenge, and joy of shooting to a mainstream audience.” She took her initiative to social media and began posting challenging videos which quickly gained notoriety. In 2014, Weiss was presented with an opportunity to showcase her talent and try-out on NBC’s popular TV show, America’s Got Talent (AGT).
Pro Golfer Boo Weekley has established quite the name for himself in the PGA community. From turning pro when he was in his early 20’s to earning three PGA tour wins over the span of his career, Weekley has done quite well for himself hitting golf balls for a living. When he’s not on the green with his clubs, Weekley can easily be found retreating in the outdoors with his bow. True to his love for hunting and fishing, Boo has never lost track of his roots as an outdoorsman.
From a young age Jesse James developed a natural talent and craft in working with his hands – more uniquely in welding. This passion grew to his largely successful West Coast Choppers brand in creating premier choppers of unique quality and style in California. After moving to Texas, Jesse became inspired once again by his passion for firearms and ultimately launched Jesse James Firearms Unlimited skillfully crafting customizable guns from the classic 1911 pistol to AR-15’s.
Morgan Wade won gold in Big Air BMX at the 2013 X Games Los Angeles; his signature move is the superman tailwhip; and he's had a few teeth knocked out - which doesn't surprise us due to his "tough guy" reputation. But this pro athlete also has an interest in firearms training and combines it with his other passion, Krav Maga.
You know Country music star Charlies Daniels loves to play the fiddle on stage, but did you also know he loves to shoot his .22 at the range? This NRA life member grew up in a time where “guns were a rite of passage.” In season 3 of NRA All Access, Daniels explained “everybody had guns, every house had guns, and we were not to even touch them without a grown-up being around. So we left the guns alone until the time came when they said, 'Okay son, it's time for you to learn how to handle this.” This made Daniels passionate about defending his freedoms and a proud supporter of NRA.
You know actress and model Kelly Carlson from her role on Nip/Tuck. But, you probably didn’t know she is also a gun owner and self-defense advocate. After a security breach/stalking incident in her home, she vowed to never again feel uneasy about her personal safety. Kelly decided to empower herself through firearms training and developing personal safety skills.
With more than 100 feature films and television credits to his name, actor Joe Mantegna also has a great passion for firearms and history. He has been able to focus this passion with his show Gun Stories on Outdoor Channel where viewers get an in-depth look at various pieces of history. Fun Fact: Gun Stories is often filmed in the NRA National Firearms Museum!
There are no words to truly describe Taya Kyle's strength and courage. Her life has already been well-documented and shared with the world, but we had the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes and meet the woman behind new book American Wife and the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation.
NFL Linebacker Trent Cole has earned quite the reputation playing football on the field as well as on the hunt in the field. Earning the nickname “Tha Hunter” for his skills as a blitzing specialist, Cole also hosts his show Blitz TV where he chases after big game across the country. Cole not only supports NRA as a hunter, but as an advocate for firearms training and actively encourages fellow NFL players to undergo proper firearms training and safety courses.
Along with many other programs and publications, S.E. Cupp is well known as the co-host on the CNN program Crossfire and columnist at the New York Daily News. The conservative columnist, author, and commentator has established her stance in support of the 2nd Amendment, proudly supports NRA, and enjoys hunting and going to the range. She has recently been featured in the NRA Mom campaign, encouraging mother’s to defend their rights and protect their families. Cupp states in her ad, “as a woman, and now a mom, it’s incredibly important to me to feel like I can take care of myself and my family and I’m proud to be a member of an organization that supports my right to do so.”
Chad Mendes has been a wrestler his whole life. After wrestling in high school and college, he is now ranked #3 in the official UFC featherweight rankings. When he isn’t at the gym or in the ring, Mendes can be found out in the woods. He is a hunter and a passionate one to say the least. He began hunting with his dad when he was a little kid and plans to pass the tradition down to his children. Mendes loves hunting and the outdoors so much that his friends even tease him that he “fights to pay for his hunting trips”.
