Arizona High School Rodeo Association Receives NRA Foundation Grant

TUCSON, Az. – The NRA Foundation has awarded more than $6,500 in grants to the Arizona High School Rodeo Association (AHSRA) and Arizona Junior High School Rodeo Association (AJHSRA) to support upcoming .22 smallbore rifle and trap shooting events.

The NRA Foundation grants have allowed the AHSRA and AJHSRA to subsidize the cost of supplies and materials, allowing the organizations to charge lower entry fees for their events. Between September 2015 and May 2016, contestants will test their skills at seven shooting competitions throughout Arizona, including events in Payson, Casa Grande and Prescott, before competing at the national rodeo competition in Gillette, Wyoming, in July 2016.

Arizona hosts more than 20 rodeos each year and features dozens of rodeo associations across the state. The 129th annual World’s Oldest Rodeo® is scheduled to take place in Prescott over Fourth of July weekend in 2016 and the annual World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo will be held in Payson at the end of August.
