Help the Second Amendment this Giving Tuesday

Right after Thanksgiving it’s a whirlwind of shopping excitement—Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. Between all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, one can sometimes forget the meaning of the Christmas season—giving. A movement towards charitable and philanthropic giving is sweeping the nation, and a couple of NRA’s charities are jumping on board.

Created in 2012, #GivingTuesday brings individuals and communities together to celebrate and encourage giving. As charities around the globe strategize their year-end giving campaigns many are incorporating #GivingTuesday into their efforts. Tens of thousands of groups have partnered with #GivingTuesday, and thanks to its global community, the funds charities raise on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving has skyrocketed nearly 500%.

For Second Amendment supporters and outdoors enthusiasts who want to donate to their favorite cause, two of NRA’s 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, The NRA Foundation and the NRA Civil Rights Defend Fund, are participating in Giving Tuesday. Established in 1990 The NRA Foundation is the leading charitable organization to promote and protect shooting sports programs across the country. Through grants funded by your contributions you help to advance firearm education and training, hunting safety, competitive shooting, range development, youth and women’s programs and so much more.

The NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund was established in 1978 to provide legal and financial assistance to selected individuals and organizations defending their Second Amendment rights. Funded solely through contributions, the Fund sponsors legal research and education on a wide variety of firearms related issues, including the meaning of the Second Amendment and nature of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms provisions in state constitutions. In 2014 alone, more than 60 cases were supported by the Fund to help those whose rights were threatened, the Fund distributed thousands of books and articles to libraries and individuals, and it also encouraged research and education among students through its grants and writing contest awards. Every contribution helps defend our Constitutional rights. It’s all about Freedom!

The NRA Freedom Action Foundation is dedicated to providing non-partisan Second Amendment education to all American citizens. Through these efforts, we strive to reach all citizens, regardless of race, religion or socio-economic status with respect to the history and meaning of the Second Amendment. Our efforts focus on specific communities of interest as well as college campuses. Through the NRA Freedom Action Foundation, NRA can expand far beyond its membership to reach other freedom-loving Americans, regardless of party affiliation or political orientation.
