Gunslingers series offers NRA insight to the guns of the Wild West - video

Winchester Model 1866 Lever Action Rifle

Fairfax, Virginia - You know it's going to be a good day when you get a call from Discovery. Even more so when it's the American Heroes Channel calling about their new show Gunslingers.

You haven't heard about Gunslingers? Here's a quick description from their website:

Exposing little-known facts about America’s first villains and heroes, the six-part series features the stories of Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid, Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickok, John Wesley Hardin and Tom Horn. Juxtaposed with vivid reenactments, expert commentary is layered throughout each episode to ensure the authenticity and historical accuracy of each story. Contributors include: David Milch, the creator of Deadwood; Bob Boze Bell, the executive editor of True West Magazine; and actor Kurt Russell (Tombstone).
So why did Discovery call? For the expertise of course. And when your experts are American Rifleman Editor in Chief Mark Keefe and NRA Museums Director Jim Supica, well, let's just say you're swimming in firearms expertise.

While you're not going to see Mark and Jim on the show, you are going to see them on American Heroes Channel website. There they provide insight and backstories to the guns favored in the Old West.

This week they take on the lever action rifles. Take a look.
