Smallbore Rifle Championship shifts all matches from Bristol to Perry

Competitors picking up their registration packs at NRA's Metric Nationals

NRA Board Member Walt Walters was on site for the beginning of NRA's Smallbore Rifle Championships at the Wa Ke De' Rifle Range in Bristol. Here's his intro for the start of the Metric phase.

Bristol, Indiana - Competitors began arriving about 8:00a.m. this morning to complete their in-processing for the NRA National Smallbore Rifle Metric 3-position championship. Sunday, July 13th was a practice day for these riflemen and women. An opportunity to hone their skills and sight-in their rifles for the competition which started today, Monday the 14th.

Monday is the competition for the Metric Metallic Sight matches. That means by the end of the day a new Metric Metallic Sight Champion will be crowned. After completing their 40 shots for record at each of the prone, standing and kneeling positions the overall winner will be determined.

The Any Sight champion will be crowned on Tuesday with the competitors firing the same course of fire as the metallic sight aggregate. At the completion of firing a BBQ will be held for the competitors after which an awards ceremony will be conducted crowning all the Metric National Champions.

From there the competition switches to Standard 3-Position, Standard Prone, and Metric Prone. By the 25th of July we'll have four new NRA Smallbore Champions to honor.
