From the Pennsylvania Game Commission - Ticket discounts await hunters, trappers

Outdoors Night at the Harrisburg Senators promises summertime fun, at a savings.

Outdoors Night at the Harrisburg Senators Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - The fall hunting seasons are a long way off.

So what in the meantime might serve substitute for a string of decoys on the Susquehanna? How about the Akron Rubber Ducks coming to City Island to take on the Harrisburg Senators.

The baseball game to be played Friday, June 20 is part of Outdoors Night at Metro Bank Park, which provides discounted ticket opportunities for licensed Pennsylvania hunters and furtakers, and loads of outdoors-themed activities including archery instruction and shooting simulators.

Outdoors Night is a partnership between the Harrisburg Senators and the Pennsylvania Game Commission. In addition to ticket discounts and festivities, the first 1,000 children ages 12 and under to walk through the Metro Bank Park gates will receive a free Game Commission baseball cap.

Pennsylvania hunters and furtakers can show their licenses at the Metro Bank Park box office to receive a $2 per ticket discount for themselves and their families. The discount can be applied to Reserved, Box, Field Box and Dugout Box seats.

To pre-purchase tickets, go to http://tinyurl.com/SenatorsOutdoors and enter OUTDOORS in all capital letters in the promo code box. Click the “Submit” button next to the code, then click on the blue plus sign next to the appropriate ticket option to choose a section and the quantity of seats

Game time is 7 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

Those who want to experience all the night has to offer should plan to arrive early.

The Game Commission plans to set up two shooting simulators at the park. The Beam Hit simulator teaches the fundamentals of marksmanship by allowing participants to fire a laser rifle at stationary targets. The Laser Shot simulator aims to replicate hunting scenarios on a video screen and educates participants about safe gun-handling and good shot placement.

Those attending the game also will be able to try their hand at target shooting with bows and arrows, and there will be other demonstrations and displays around the ballpark as well.

“We’re hoping for clear skies and a fun-filled night at the ballpark for our hunters and trappers, and their families,” Game Commission Executive Director R. Matthew Hough said.

The Harrisburg Senators remind baseball fans that all seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and only orders that are purchased together can be seated together. Discounted tickets cannot be purchased by phone, and there are no refunds or exchanges for tickets purchased.

Metro Bank Park is located at 1 Championship Way, Harrisburg, PA 17101. Those wanting more information about tickets can contact the Harrisburg Senators at (717) 231-4444.
