NRA President Jim Porter welcomes patrons to the 143rd NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits

Indianapolis, Indiana - Friends, family, patrons and members jammed the Indiana Convention Center halls as NRA President Jim Porter patiently waited to officially open the 2014 NRA Convention in Indianapolis. The 143rd NRA Annual Meeting, to be exact, burst at the seams as 1st Vice President Alan Cors shouldered the morning's emcee duties.

With a smile and a wave, he welcomed the crowd and prepared all for the experience to come.

"As you walk around the exhibit hall today, keep this in mind — this is where freedom lives."

Standing at the ready with President Porter were NRA 2nd Vice President Pete Brownell, Executive Director of NRA General Operation Kyle Weaver, NRA Treasurer and CFO Woody Phillips, MidwayUsa's Brenda and Larry Potterfield, and NRA Secretary Major James Land.

When the time arrived, Porter stepped to the plate for a swing as cleanup.

"9 acres of guns and gear ... are you ready?"

With that it was time for the over-sized scissors. Sharing the handle with Brenda Potterfied and her granddaughter, Porter smiled for the camera, counted to three and snipped.

With the NRA Convention now officially open for business, the only question is where do we go first?
