Pennsylvania's capital comes out strong to raise money for the future of the shooting sports
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - Food, fun, and fundraising. That's what the NRA Foundation advertises for its more than 1,000 Friends of NRA banquets held throughout the United States each year. And that was exactly what guests got at last night's inaugural NRA Foundation Banquet at the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
A precursor of what to expect at the National NRA Foundation Banquet & Auction at this year's NRA Annual Meetings in Indianapolis, last night's banquet featured the all new 2014 Friends of NRA merchandise package along with a few extra special items you wouldn't find anywhere else.
"I'd like to thank you for attending the first year of this event and look forward to coming back to Harrisburg for many years," said Kyle Weaver, Executive Director of NRA General Operations.
After spreading their raffle tickets around the dozens of collectors items and oggling the front table's live auction items, guests were treated to a hearty feast. But after the last bite of dessert it was time to bid on the big items and raise money for the shooting sports. That's the purpose behind Friends of NRA, to assist shooting sports programs across the country through grants. And half of the money raised by Friends of NRA goes directly to programs local to where the banquet was held.
