Big Game on Super display this Sunday in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - Sunday is the day for the big game. But at the Great American Outdoor Show, big game doesn't have anything to do with the NFL. No, the big game here comes in true animal form.
So what is big game? There's a bit of controversy when it comes to that.
The big big game is made up of the African-five; lion, elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, and rhino. But those aren't necessarily the easiest to get. First there's the cost. While you might be able to find a deal here and there, odds are you're going to pay upwards of $1,000 a night. Then there's the flight and most importantly the animal.
Lions typically fall into the $25,000 ballpark. Elephants are too far behind. The others, while cheaper, are still in the five-digit range ... so we're not talking about Christmas Club money here.
Then we get to American big game. This far more attainable list includes, but is not limited to, alligator, bear, bison, caribou, elk, moose, mountain lion and a variety of deer. For a lucky few all that means is walking out the front door. But for the rest of us, well, there's a little effort involved.
Though the prices for the domestic hunts are more affordable, we're still talking about a decent four-digit number here. Some under $2,000 while others can reach the five-figure plateau.
But don't let that discourage you. If you have always dreamed that big game dream then you're bound to find a way. Maybe not this season and maybe not the next, but with a little frugality and creativity, you'll be sure to scratch that dream off your bucket list.
So as you find yourself snuggled up tonight as the Broncos and Seahawks battle it out in this year's big game, don't forget to put a little thought into your big game dreams. Your NFL. Where do you start? There's no better place than the 114 outfitters just waiting for you at the Great American Outdoor Show.
