4-hour live broadcast scheduled for Monday, discounts for veterans
Fairfax, Virginia - Veterans Day is always special. At least it should be.
For most it's just a day off. An opportunity to sleep in, catch up on chores — make a lazy day of it. Most fail to understand or appreciate what these men and women went through. What they gave up. The sacrifice.
Rise at daybreak. Early morning run. Strive to stay in top physical shape. Earning pennies on what could be much more impressive private sector salaries. Charge into battle on a moments notice. All for love of country ... and the guy sitting next to you in the fox hole.
In celebration of these men and women, NRANews is pulling up stakes from their cozy Alexandria confines and setting up shop at the NRA Headquarters Range. There to broadcast live, for Sirius, for their webcast and for Sportsman Channel on Veterans Day. Why there? Because the Range is holding a special for all veterans.
"Everyone shoots free," said Range Manager Michael Johns. "If you're a veteran, served your country, then there are no range fees during show time on Veterans Day."
Open to the public from 8:00am to 6:00pm, the range fee specials kick in during the NRANews broadcast. That means vets shoot free from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
"A live broadcast is always exciting," said John Popp, executive producer of NRANews. "We hope to grab a few shooters during the show, sit them down, hear their story and give them our thanks."
Located at 11250 Waples Mill Drive in Fairfax, Virginia, the range can be found at the bottom of the parking garage. Though there are plenty of targets, ammunition and shooting accessories for sale, you are required to bring your own guns — no gun rentals are available.
So of you live in the area, feel like its been too long since you stepped behind the trigger, come on out to the NRA. Watch the show live and help us honor the men and women who sacrificed so much.
