Frederick, Maryland - Six generations of Holsingers have operated the Holsinger's Meat Market in Northern Maryland for over one hundred years. This weekend generations five and six, Richie and Bob respectively, showed up to the NRA Great American Hunting & Outdoor Show at the Frederick Fairgrounds with some tasty snacks.

At their shop, the Holsingers have the regular line of fresh beef, pork, and poultry products, but they also provide store-made Smokehouse Specialties including: Beef Jerky, Beef Snack Sticks, Smoked Bolognas, City Cured Hams, Hickory Smoked Bacon, Smoked Country Sausage, Polish Sausage, and Holsinger’s Famous Hotdogs.

Yum? Yum.

Also available at the store is America’s Original Red Meat - buffalo. Lean and healthy, Buffalo meat is low in fat, calories and cholesterol. Most importantly, it's delicious.

Like sausage? Holsinger’s has you covered: Country Style, Maple, Apple, Sweet Italian, Hot Italian, Green Onion and Turkey Sausage.

And why would Holsinger's be at a hunting show without showcasing their harvesting skills?

"If it's made of meat, we can process it however you'd like." Richie said.

Given the long carried tradition, one has to wonder about the chances that we will find a seventh generation of Holsinger working behind the counter one day?

"I've got two kids and I can definitely see they're interested," Richie told me. "So I'd say the chances are pretty good."
