Learn safety measures and how to teach others next weekend in Fairfax, Virginia
Fairfax, Virginia - The NRA’s Refuse To Be A Victim program is an award-winning crime prevention and personal safety seminar that can teach anyone the basics of personal protection. Participants learn not to defend themselves with firearms, but with preventative measures anyone can put in place. Learn how to avoid dangerous situations and prevent criminal confrontations at home, in the car, on the phone, online and abroad.
Next Saturday, February 9, you can attend a seminar from 8:30 AM until 12:30 PM here at NRA headquarters. Everybody is invited to attend and the admission is $5.00. Seminar participants are presented with a variety of common sense crime prevention and personal safety strategies and devices they may integrate into their daily lives.
Did you like what you learned at a seminar? You'll need to complete an Online Instructor Training course or attend an Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) before you can teach these lessons.
If you're planning to attend next week's seminar or are interested in becoming an instructor and live in the area, you're in luck! An IDW will begin immediately following the conclusion of the seminar at 12:30 p.m. Instructor training costs $175 and includes the instructor kit, training and first year's certification fees. Instructor candidates must be at least 18 years old and have no criminal record in order to attend.
Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, Refuse To Be A Victim was developed in 1993 after nationwide requests for crime prevention seminars and has been endorsed by members of the law enforcement community across the country. Sporting more than 3,400 instructors, seminars have been held in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Trinidad and Tobago. Almost 100,000 men and women have benefited from the program and its life saving message.
Pre-registration for both events is required. Speak with National Coordinator Ruthann Sprague at 703-267-1394 or email@example.com to reserve a spot.
