Frederick, Maryland - It may be snowing, but the doors are open for the NRA Great American Hunting & Outdoor Show here at the Frederick Fairgrounds. A little inclement weather isn't stopping the outdoor enthusiasts of the Mid-Atlantic from pouring through the doors and getting their fill of the industry's latest gear, or booking a great hunt through one of the many outfitters.

Throughout seven buildings are over a hundred vendors selling just about everything. Guns, bows, retriever training, taxidermy, clothing, optical gear, jerky, summer camps, tractors and more. It's all here - really. A lot of them are even raffling away free gear and services! Why are you not here already?!

Did you or one of your buddies recently nab a great trophy? Put it up against other local hunters in the Mason/Dixon Big Buck Contest before gazing on some dream trophies in the Great American Whitetail Collection, a display of 15 of the world's highest-scoring whitetails mounts.

Have a youngster with you? First off, kids nine and under get in for free. Second, get them started on the Li'l Hunter Scavenger Hunt. Filled with trivia questions about the vendors, it's a great way to make sure your kids have fun as you go through the show. Don't be surprised if they end up guiding you around from booth to booth!

If your feet get tired, stop by one of the show's seminars to learn fishing and hunting tips. This weekend features legendary fisherman Ken Penrod, hunter and animal trainer Ken Nolan and Michael Waddell from Outdoor Channel's Bone Collector.

The show runs til 7 tonight, but don't worry if you can't make it out. It'll open again from 9 to 7 tomorrow and 9 to 5 on Friday. NRA members (with their membership cards) get in for $8.00, the general public gets in for $10.00. And, wouldn't you know it, anyone who purchases an NRA Membership at the show receives a free weekend pass.
