Frederick, Maryland hosts 4th annual NRA hunting show Jan 25 - 27

The Bone Collector Michael Waddell to appear at NRA's Great American Hunting & Outdoor Show

Fairfax, Virginia - Tomorrow marks the return of the NRA Great American Hunting & Outdoor Show to the Frederick Fairgrounds in Maryland. If you call yourself a hunting or outdoor enthusiast, live in the mid-Atlantic region and don't make it out... we don't know what to tell you. With vendors and activities for the whole family, you'll have to come up with a pretty good excuse to miss this one.

At the show you'll see a few hundred exhibitors, tons of hunt/outdoor gear and, thanks to the hard work of the staff, the Outdoor Channel's Bone Collector, Michael Waddell.

First hitting the airwaves in 2009 on Outdoor Channel, Bone Collector's mission was to document the culture of the hunter, the brotherhood of sportsmen and "the warts and all" of their adventures across the globe. Just last week they won the Fan Favorite Best Hunting Series and Best Turkey Hunting Golden Moose Awards at SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As one of the show's featured speakers, Waddell will be there the whole weekend to talk about his experiences on the show and within the hunting community. If you don't know the man, here he is in his own words:

I'm country through and through. I dig twangy music and old school Southern rock. I like my steaks southern fried, my hashbrowns scattered, smothered 'n covered and my tea sweet and stout. Real stout – the kind you can dang near cut with a knife – just like my Grand Mamma used to make.

I'm a guitar pickin', blue jeans wearin', backstrap grillin' good ol' boy who was born to hunt. If it gobbles, quacks, bugles or grunts, chances are I've chased it more than a time or two. Droppin' the hammer and closin' the coffin on anything with antlers, feathers or fur just never gets old. I bet you know exactly what I'm talkin' about.

Want to see some great trophies? How about the Great American Whitetail Collection, a display of 15 of the world's highest-scoring whitetails mounts. If you have an impressive mount of your own, then enter them in the Mason/Dixon Big Buck Contest where the highest-scoring trophies will walk away with prestigious awards. There will be plenty for deer enthusiast to oggle, that's for sure.

To be a part of the fun, you'll have to come out to the NRA Great American Hunting & Outdoor Show. Visit their website for all the important details including, directions, admission, seminar schedule and the exhibitor list.

The show runs 1 to 7 on Friday, 9 to 7 on Saturday and 9 to 5 on Friday. NRA members (with their membership cards) get in for $8.00, the general public gets in for $10.00 and kids 9 and under get in for free. And, should the opportunity arise, anyone who purchases an NRA Membership at the show receives a free weekend pass.
