Las Vegas, Nevada - The 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada opens at 8:30 Pacific Standard Time.

Waiting in the wings are thousands of vendors, dealers, manufacturers, writers and more to see the latest from the shooting sports industry. Though there are rumors abound, both good and bad, no one can be sure what to expect until the doors are opened and the day is underway.

For the National Rifle Association, one of the biggest events of the day promises to be the launch of NRANews on the Sportsman Channel. Broadcasting live from the show floor from 5:00 to 6:00 Eastern Standard Time, sources tell us that NRA Executive Vice President will be the first guest. As if anyone else would do.

The main National Rifle Association location is on the main floor at booth number 14540. Located next to Taurus, Remington, Walther, Crosman and a few others, it promises to be a lively encounter for all.

On today's agenda is the welcome lunch for the Brownells/NRA Youth Shooting Sports Ambassadors, a quick visit with Matt and Jessie Duff from the Friends of NRA television show, and what ever else falls into our lap. And there should be plenty.

For SHOT is full of both the expected and the unexpected. We know most of what we'll see ... rifles, pistols, shotguns, tactical gear, hunting equipment and more. But what we don't know, what we'll be doing our best to ferret out from the endless halls and walkways, is the unexpected.

Here we go.
