Friends of NRA's popular raffle returns bigger and better than ever at the 2012 NRA Annual Meetings
At the 2011 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Pittsburgh, Friends of NRA unveiled the Wall of Guns raffle. A popular game at Friends of NRA events in previous years, it was time to try it out on the national stage.
True to it's name, the Wall of Guns features a plethora of firearms adorning a wall. A winner is drawn every time the game sells 100 tickets and may select their prize from the wall. All old tickets are scrapped and a new raffle begins.
Things went pretty well in 2011 and attendees clamored for more so that's exactly what Friends of NRA gave them. Coming back bigger and better at this past spring's Annual Meetings in St. Louis, Wall of Guns 2.0 featured over 70 guns. Yeah, that's right. Thanks to sponsors Cabela's and Leupold, raffle winners could select from a Colt Blue Commander .45ACP, a Savage 10 Carbine .308WIN, a Henry Golden Boy .22, a Remington 770 7mm Real Tree APG, Smith & Wesson Field Carry .40 or... you get the picture - there were a lot of great firearms available. One side of the wall even allowed you to pick TWO guns when you won!
You didn't even need to be present to win when the drawing was held, meaning you could go off and explore the rest of the convention center as you liked. (But where is the fun in that?)
If you were at Annual Meetings it would have been hard to miss the large crowd this drew and how noisy it became. I loved being there and taking it all in. I especially liked watching winners comb over the wall, figuring out which prize(s) they wanted. I'm sure that was fell into the "good kind of problem" category for them.
The event was a huge success and will surely be back in 2013 in Houston. If you're planning on going to the Annual Meetings this year, be sure to stop by.
