Hill County Friends of NRA volunteer Hunter Behrends joins shooting team

Fairfax, Virginia - Friends of NRA volunteers are a diverse bunch. They come from all walks of life, from teenagers to seniors, from all across the country. And they're involvement in the shooting sports goes beyond supporting their local banquets and committees.

Take Hunter Behrends for example. Hunter is an eleventh grader from Fredericksburg, Texas. This volunteer for the Hill County Friends of NRA committee was recently selected to join the Texas 4-H Shooting Sports Air Rifle Team.

The Texas 4-H Shooting Sports Air Rifle team is part of a comprehensive introduction to shooting sports safety and the fundamentals. Disciplines include the standard offerings of archery, pistol, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloading, and hunting.

Behrends addition to the team was practically a no brainer. Though new to the sport, he has emerged as an accomplished shooter during the fourteen competitions he took part in over the past year. His competitiveness has taken him to sectionals for the National Indoor Junior Championships, National Junior Olympics, NRA Air Gun Championship and the Daisy National Air Rifle Championship to name a few.

Mrs. Behrends was very thankful for Friends of NRA's commitment to supporting the shooting sports. "At some point you have had an influence in Hunter's shooting sports," she said. "Many thanks to each of you."

We wish Hunter the best of luck as he prepares for the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational next June in Nebraska.
