Your chance to see the latest hunting & outdoor gear in Maryland
Yes, yes it's early. Probably too early for most. As a constant procrastinator, I know it's too early for me. But I've been told that a lot of you like to plan in advance so here you go. If you're in or around the Washington, DC Metro area at the end of January then you need to add Frederick, Maryland to your itinerary. That's where you'll find the NRA's Great American Hunting & Outdoor Show. January 25th through the 27th at the Frederick Fairgrounds ... wait until you see what's in store.
The region's biggest heads, sheds and racks will be on display for the Mason/Dixon Big Buck Contest, the Li'l Hunter Scavenger Hunt and the always favorite LaserShot System are back for a return engagement. And so are the exhibitors.
"Oh we've got good ones lined up," said NRA Hunter Services Manager Bob Davis. "Guides, gear, duck callers, taxidermist; we have a little bit of everything for everyone."
Also on the agenda are their seminars of nationally recognized hunting & outdoor experts, the Great American Whitetail Collection and more.
Free to kids 9 and under, the event runs from 1 TO 7 on Friday, 9 to 7 on Saturday and 9 to 5 on Friday. NRA members (with their membership cards) gets in for $8.00 and the general public gets in for $10.00. And, should the opportunity arise, anyone who purchases an NRA Membership at the show receives a free weekend pass.
