Fairfax, Virginia - Even though the Friends of NRA Banquet season is rolling to a close, there are still plenty of opportunities to attend. Just like those who made it to the last night's dinner at the Waterford in Fairfax.
Under the steady hand of newly appointed Eastern Virginia Field Rep. David Wells, the night was began as guests made their way around the auctions and games that frequent every Friends event.
"There wasn't a Fairfax Friends event last year," said Wells. "It's great to see the crowd's enthusiasm."
Volunteers from the community along with NRA Headquarters staff explained the rules, took the tickets and passed out prizes throughout the night. Friendly barbs along the lines of "that's a terrible choice" and "don't even bother I already won" were thrown about with great frequency.
"Our people enjoy giving each other a hard time," said Wells. "As long as they're in a good mood for the auction, then I'll be in a good mood too."
Though we don't have final numbers yet, Wells and the staff were encouraged by the raw count. In time, we'll share those numbers and more about the Friends of NRA return to Fairfax.
