1862 Colt Pocket Police revolver

Fairfax, Virginia - Just because we missed the original airing of last week's Curator's Corner doesn't mean we're going to leave it in the weeds. Not when Senior Curator Phil Schreier brings out a brand new donation fresh from the Stembridge Prop House collection ... an 1862 Colt Pocket Police conversion revolver.

"There's a great big S on the underside," said Schreier. "It was used by Natalie Wood in The Burning Hills with Tab Hunter. It's a, well just say that it's not a classic by any means."

This Colt Pocket Police arrived with a .36 caliber. One of approximately 20,000 manufactured, research suggest it was converted to handle self-contained metallic cartridges during the days of Manifest Destiny.

For those of you who missed it, here's a bootleg clip from the segment where Phil goes into the cinematic history of the gun.
