Brian Zins with his target after the .22 Caliber Championship Matches

Port Clinton, Ohio - The .22 Caliber portion of NRA's 2012 National Pistol Championships began this morning at 7:30 with the .22 Caliber Slow Fire Match. That was followed by the .22 Caliber National Match Course, followed by the Timed Fire and Rapid Fire matches. Relay 1 completed all four events around 9:15. That's when we grabbed a moment with yesterday's Preliminary champion and Top Shot runner-up Brian Zins.

When asked how the .22 caliber matches went, Zins answered that he shot very well except for the first string of slow fire.

"I guess I was still hungry," he joked.

Once Relays 2 and 3 finish this afternoon, the preliminary scores will determine whether or not Zins' hunger got the best of him today.
