The Washington Monument in DC

On July 4, 1776, fifty-six men came together in the State House of Pennsylvania with a hope of freedom. To break the shackles of tyranny, taxation and transgressions of trust so great that men of power and wealth abandoned the framework of their standings to try anew. To forge a system of government that would make all men to stand free. It was on this day that they signed a declaration that began:

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

On this Fourth of July, those of us here at the National Rifle Association celebrate the sedition of these brave men. So raise a flag, take time with the family and enjoy the fireworks.
