Youth Education Summit students hold up their bullseyes after some target practice at the NRA Range

A lot will be going on during next week's Youth Education Summit.

The participating students will find themselves traveling all over the Washington D.C. area, visiting places like The Capitol, Marine Corps Base Quantico, the National Archives and much more. One of the first stops, and rightfully so, is right here at NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia.

The chaperones and students will tour the building and hear from people in charge of NRA programs like Eddie Eagle GunSafeWomen On Target and the National Firearms Museum to name a few.

The last stop at headquarters will be none other than the NRA Range. This will be their opportunity for a thorough lesson on firearm safety (props to our world-class Range Safety Officers) followed by some supervised target practice.

Winchester Ammunition has generously stepped up to provide the ammunition that will be used that evening. Here's a little from Winchester:

“Winchester is honored to support the NRA Youth Education Summit,” said Brett Flaugher, Winchester Ammunition’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “This is a proven program that affords tremendous opportunities for youth across the United States. It’s wonderful that they also have a chance to learn and experience the shooting sports.”

The students always have a great time at this event and just about every target gets carefully rolled up to bring home as mementos. The National Firearms Museum and some generous donors will provide a large variety of firearms for the students. We'll see what gets brought out this year, but there's usually infamous firearms like the M1 Garand, MP-5 and the Grease Gun.

NRAblog will definitely be there to bring you video of the evening, so check back next week when we roll out our 2012 Y.E.S. coverage.
