Senior Event Services Coordinator Nicole McMahon told us about a 2011 Y.E.S. alum Amanda Krpan teaching the Eddie Eagle GunSafe program to over 200 cub scouts in Melrose, Florida. We asked for more so she sent us the details straight from Krpan:

YES Alum Amanda Krpan bring Eddie Eagle to Cub Scout Troop in Florida

Earlier this month, I presented to the Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program to over 200 cub scouts at an event called Buc Tuocs at Camp Shands in Melrose, Florida! The day is designed for the cub scouts to go to different stations like archery, learn about bugs, animal tracks and the wonderful work of Eddie Eagle.

I taught the program SIX times that day!! They came with their parents and younger siblings. I was lucky enough to find Eagle Scout volunteers to help, and even though it was tons of work, it was all worth it seeing all those young kids high five Eddie Eagle while singing the "STOP, Don't touch, Leave the area, Tell an adult" chant over and over.

I gave each adult the Parents Guide to Gun safety brochure in person. So as the kids looked through their workbooks, the parents had a chance to go over a brochure of their own. Everything worked out perfectly. I just wanted to share my thoughts and pictures with everyone there and let you know that you'll see even more in my Grand Application portfolio!!
