SHOT Show, the largest gathering of firearms and outdoor accessories in the world, begins Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada

Landing for SHOT Show in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada - On the way to SHOT Show yesterday, I was one of the lucky few who was able to find a bit of extra space when boarding the plane. Not just in the overhead bins, but in the seats themselves. Sure, the first leg of the flight was spent cramp against the window seat wondering if the guy next to me would ever stop asking questions, but the hop from Phoenix to Las Vegas was filled with silence and plenty of leg room.

Slot machines at the Las Vegas airport during SHOT Show

Upon arriving in the Sin City, we were greeted by the ever welcoming sign of the town ... slot machines. During my days at NRANews, there was one member of our team who played one of those airport machines and won a quick $400. But that wasn't for me. Resisting the urge to donate my money to the general fund, it was off to baggage claim and the hotel shuttle.

The Mirage during SHOT Show

The Mirage is where most of the NRA is staying this year for SHOT Show. Through the front door and on to check in, it's a room on the 9th floor that I'll be calling home for the next week. From here, I'll be running back and forth to today's Media Day (those posts are coming up ... internet connection willing), the start of the show tomorrow and the evening events as well.

Experience tells me that the adrenaline and excitement currently rushing through my veins will ultimately turn to exhaustion. But that's okay ... a week in Vegas for SHOT Show is worth a week at the beach any day.
