Captain Banks of the Texas Rangers donated 1911

Colt 1911, Government Model, owned by Texas Ranger Captain J. Banks Before getting back to NRAblog's Top 5 Stories of the Year list, here's a quick scoop on the Texas Ranger's Colt Government 1911 on tonight's Curator's Corner.

When looking at this 1911, you're probably thinking that this was a show piece. Maybe something handed out as an award or retirement gift. But no ... this was the firearm carried by Captain J. Banks of the Texas Rangers while actually on duty.

It's understandable that you might question why this was used a working gun when seeing the sterling grips with stellar inlays of the Texas Ranger badge on either side, but for that answer you'll have to tune in tonight at 10:40 Eastern Time to hear National Firearms Museum Jim Supica on Curator's Corner back West on or Sirius/XM Patriot Satellite Radio.
