Kerrin's Story #2 from 2011 - Vadasz clinches two national titles for a 3rd time

Rob Vadasz won the NRA National Police Shooting Championships in 2011

Many of NRA's competitors have reached milestones in their shooting careers in the past few years. Philip Hemphill has 10 National Police Shooting Championship titles under his belt, Brian Zins won his 10th National Pistol Championship in 2010, Doug Koenig took home his 13th Bianchi Cup this past May, and Carl Bernosky has nine National High Power Rifle Championship titles to his name. But in 2011, one man took home his third National Championship title in not one, but two separate NRA competitions.

That competitor is none other than Senior Agent Robert Vadasz of the United States Border Patrol. For several years, Vadasz has been a force to be reckoned with at both the NRA Bianchi Cup and the NRA National Police Shooting Championships.

Rob Vadasz took first in the Metallic Division at the 2011 NRA Bianchi Cup In May of this year, Vadasz won his third Bianchi Cup title in the Metallic Division with a score of 1908-143X, finishing 31 points above his closest competitor, shooting legend Jerry Miculek. A few months later, he won the National Police Shooting Championship (NPSC) for a third time with a score of 2982-227X, edging out Border Patrol teammate Enoch Smith by a mere 27 X’s.

The only other person to achieve this feat is John Pride, who won both in 1994. Pride holds four  overall Bianchi Cup Championship titles (Vadasz holds his in the Metallic Division) and four NPSC titles, meaning that if Vadasz can win both events in 2012, he will tie Pride's record.

Vadasz will definitely be one to watch next year because in his case, the fourth time could be the charm.
