The fourth and final category in the George Montgomery/NRA Youth Wildlife Art Contest is reserved for artists in grades ten through twelve. These students demonstrate a particular flair of skills are years and years of work. Especially Paul Adelgren of Monument, Colorado who painted A Hunter's Dream above.
Our judges always have the toughest time with Category IV due to the number of talented artists who enter. Many of the students in this category have been creating great works of art for years. A number of them have been taking art lessons longer than artists in Category I have been alive. Contest judges carefully examine entries for anatomical accuracy, effort, creativity and composition as they narrow down the entries to the final three.
As per usual, this year's Category IV winners did not disappoint.
Congratulations to:
- 1st Place: A Hunter's Dream by Paul Adelgren, Monument, Colorado
- 2nd Place: Show Off by Noah Bounds, Banchard, Louisiana
- 3rd Place: A Fox in Early Morning by Gina Huang, Johns Creek, Georgia
