There are no Friends of NRA events this week. Not only is the event season winding down, but with Thanksgiving approaching folks are traveling all over the country to visit family for the holiday weekend.

In the meantime, The Logan Banner has a nice article up about the Logan Area Friends of NRA holding their very first event last week in Logan, West Virginia.

First ever Logan NRA Banquet a major success

Despite some stiff competition for attention from a coal rally and a major event in Charleston (both of which took a lot of major players out of the equation) the first ever Logan Area Friends of the NRA Banquet was a tremendous success on Nov. 17.

At the beginning of the evening there were only three tickets left for the grant prize- an engraved and gold inlaid 100th Anniversary Colt .45 automatic pistol that was chosen as NRA's "Gun of the Year".

The winner of the special Colt was Jeremy Abraham of Chapmanville who had left the event following the meal. Fortunately for the local Archery enthusiast, the holder of the winning ticket for the grand prize did not have to be present to win.

"He gave me his ticket when he left," said Abraham's brother Brian, who also won a gun- the newer engraved model Ruger LCP in .380 caliber in camo finish. Numerous other guns were won and auctioned off during the course of he evening along with various pieces of artwork and other items of interest to folks who love the Great Outdoors.
