Untitled Ram by Yuwen Li of Illinois

Last week, judges for the George Montgomery/NRA Youth Wildlife Art Contest looked over each and every entry received in this year's competition. Winners have been selected the winners and honorable mentions chosen for each of the four categories.

First up are the winners from Category I. Reserved for artists in the first through third grades, the list is topped by Yuwen Li of California with the above untitled work. Contest staff and judges were extremely impressed by the level of skill shown in these entries. Especially since most of the artists in this category have only recently been introduced to the art world. Their knack for experimenting with new techniques and mediums is something one should truly appreciate.

Congratulations to:

  • 1st Place: untitled by Yuwen Li, Palatine, Illinois
  • 2nd Place: Two Gophers by Michelle Zhao, Fremont, California
  • 3rd Place: Hunting by Caroline Sun, Lake Zurich, Illinois
