40 foot boots outside of north star mall in san antonio texas San Antonio, Texas - There are some things that are simply and spectacularly Texas. In San Antonio, those things come in the form of The Alamo, the San Fernando Cathedral and the boots outside of the North Star Mall. Built by Bob “Daddy-O” Wade, they stand 40 feet tall and 35 feet wide. Now that is spectacularly Texas.

Though there are dozens of truly Texas things to experience here in San Antonio, we’re going to be concentrating on the events this weekend at the Blackhawk Shooting Range. That’s where the final NRA Tactical Police Competition year will take place starting tomorrow. Sort of.

As I explained yesterday, the Range Officers will run through the various courses today while the rest of the field hits the ground on Saturday. And if there’s a lull in the action, perhaps your’s truly will shoot a course or two. But that’s a big if.

Coverage of the match will start first thing Saturday. Stay tuned ... it should be big.
