Stage 6 of the JP Enterprises’ Rocky Mountain 3-Gun is pretty much summed up by it’s name: “Pistol Gully 2: More is Better.”

For the past several years, this match has included a pistol stage set in a gully thanks to the natural terrain here at the NRA Whittington Center. However, it’s debatable whether or not more is better, with 14 steel targets and 21 paper targets.

Competitors begin by engaging three paper targets with an MP5 before abandoning the rifle and getting into some heavy pistol shooting. As they move through the gully, competitors must search high and low for the pistol targets, with the tan color of the cardboard blending in with the New Mexico dirt.

In the video above, Jimmy Holdsworth and Dan Bugh make their way through “Pistol Gully”. Pardon the shifting camera movement, running behind competitors over and over again at nearly 8,000 feet takes it out of you!
