Thanks to Moe Aguilar in Hunter Services for another report on a successful first-time Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) event. This time, he and the YHEC crew traveled to Richmond, Illinois to help get another YHEC up and running in the Midwest as part of the YHEC Mid-America Expansion Project:

The Richmond, Illinois YHEC event was held on June 10, 2011 at Richmond Hunting Club. All of the participants and parents had a great time competing in 4 events – Rifle, Archery, Wildlife ID and the Hunter Safety Trail. Laurie Studer, the Event Director, was very pleased with the program and is already planning a event for the future.

It was great to see the joy on the youngsters faces as they completed the shooting events and returned to their parents telling them how well they did shooting for the first time. When asked at the closing ceremonies by Laurie Studer if anyone wanted to attend another YHEC event, all the hands went up including the parents.

Many thanks go to Laurie and Steve Studer, Susan and Rob Russell, and the membership, staff, and Tony Barucca of Richmond Hunting Club for the time and effort they put into this new YHEC program to make it a huge success.
