The Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) Mid-America Expansion Project continued earlier this month with a brand new YHEC event in the Midwest. The Pioneer Gun Club in Holden, Missouri hosted its first YHEC event for nearly 80 young hunters.

With the help of 20 volunteers, the participants used their hunting and marksmanship skills in four of the eight YHEC events. Wildlife Identification and the Hunter Safety Trail served at the two Responsibility Events, and participants took aim in the Shotgun and Light Rifle Shooting Events.

NRA staffers Monty Embrey, Moe Aguilar, and Susan Hill were also on hand to help and get the event up and running. According to reports, the young hunters who participated are hooked on YHEC, hopefully making this an annual event at the Pioneer Gun Club.

Check out the YHEC website to learn more about this fun program, find an event near you, or how to contact NRA Hunter Services to get your own YHEC started!
