Racers Card High Scores At NCAA Qualifier
The Murray State Rifle team hosted an NCAA Qualifier and National Rifle Association Sectional over the weekend at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Ky.
MSU hopes to gain a spot in the NCAA Championships held in Columbus, Ga., March 11-12. After all teams completed qualifying, the NCAA Rifle Committee will review results and official invitations to the championships will be announced in the next week .
Qualifying for the NCAA Rifle Championships is a two part process.
The first part is a regular season qualifier average (Derived by averaging the three highest regular season team aggregate scores, and no two can be at the same location)which is 50% of final number. Part two is the other 50%, which is the team score shot in the qualifier..
The Racers went into the weekend with the fourth highest regular season score in the nation.
They went into the match with a qualifying score of 4663.33. On Saturday morning they shot a 4663, with a 2312 smallbore and 2351 air rifle.
